Making a difference …

20-02-2024 Drop in session at Ponders End Youth and Family Hub

Our regular drop-in sessions take place at the Ponders End Youth and Family Hub, 129, South Street, Enfield, EN3 4PX.

Today's session will be from 12 - 2 pm. See our flyer here for information on this session.

This week we will be joined by representatives of Enfield’s SENDIASS team (Special Educational Needs Information Advisory and Support Service). The SENDIASS team provide support, information and advice for parents on all issues relating to the education of their children with additional needs, and can advocate on your behalf, arrange and attend meetings in schools or with Local Authority professionals, help with applications, form filling and drafting letters and complex documentation like needs assessment, reviews and Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).

We will also be joined by the Local Authority’s SEN Improvement Lead, who as part of the ongoing review of SEND Services, is carrying out a Self-Evaluation (SEF) of all the work being delivered across the Enfield including key areas of strength and areas of development. To help do this, she would like to get your feedback on;

  • Your family’s experiences of accessing and using SEND Services in Enfield
  • Your experiences of participating in the decision-making needed for your child or young person’s individual plans/support
  • Your views as to what SEND Services need to focus on over the coming 2 years

Members of the Our Voice team will be on hand once every two weeks (alternating between a 10 am to 1 pm session and a 12 – 2 pm session) to listen to your questions and issues and point you in the right direction to resolve the issues you are facing. Or you can just take the opportunity to offload a bit and have a chat with other parents who experience some of the same challenges as you.

See our booklet here for more information, including details of what the hubs are, what support they offer and what events are coming up.

Practical information:

The hub is located at 129, South Street, Enfield, EN3 4 PX.

Some people have reported problems with getting to the hub using SatNav. It is best to look out for the Oasis Academy School which is opposite the hub. You may find that once parked you are by the side entrance of the hub – you will probably need to go to the South Street entrance to get admittance to the building – please walk around the building until you get to the front.

These events are aimed at parents and carers rather than children. If you do need to bring children with you, please note that you will be responsible for supervising your children throughout the session – we do not provide childcare or activities for children during these sessions.

The dates for March will be :
